The L Word Series Finale: Final Thoughts

This past season was the last for The L Word on Showtime. We were told that Jenny was going to die and that the season would should the events preceding her death with the last episode revealing what happened to her.

Well, the season finale came and no solution was given. The actress who played Alice informed us at the end of the episode that there would be interrogation tapes which can be viewed on Showtime.com where secrets would be revealed. It turns out there was seven tapes and in order to presented here are the secrets.

Tina: She had her first girl-girl experience with her older sister, who now hates her and is a born again Christian. Tina committed insect.

Shane: She burned her business down. As to why, who knows.

Helena: The money that she had stolen was given away to liberal causes. The person, Helena robbed was a conservative. Also, Sgt. Duffy is very interested in Helena in a sexual way.

Niki: She stole the movie Les Girls and hid it in Jenny's attic. Why, it was a crappy movie that would kill her career and she figured nobody would ever find it in Jenny's attic and if they did, Jenny would get the blame.

Max: When Jenny broke up with her/him for a French girl, Max took Jenny's toothbrush and scrubbed the bathroom floor with it.

Bette: She wanted to carry the second child for her and Tina, but Tina did not ask her.

Alice: Bette asked Alice to help set up a party for her to promote a gallery opening and Alice invited Tina and her husband, thus making her the one who gets Bette and Tina together.

During Alice's tape, Sgt. Duffy is grilling Alice about her bisexuality when Alice says "What does this have to do with who killed Jenny?" And Sgt. Duffy says, "You think somebody killed Jenny?"

And so we end the biggest disaster for a series ending ever. I mean, what was the point of the whole season. Why were the cops grilling the ladies about topics totally unrelated to the investigation? Will we ever find out what happened?

There is some talk about a spin off set in a women's prison where Alice will be incarcerated. The thought is, that she gets busted for Jenny's death. Why? Do they really care for the fans of this show or not?

When The L Word started, it was a great show and quickly ran out of steam. It seems like the creators only had enough good ideas for one season, let only six. But to end this series in this crappy way is just inexcusable.

Oh well.
