Thoughts: 08-June-2009

I watched a couple of good shows last night, both on USA network. Law& Order: Criminal Intent and In Plain Sight, better than what is on the major networks. This got me thinking about shows cancelled before their time.

The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. (Fox) This was a great show that featured Bruce Campbell as Western Hero out to avenge the death of his father. SF elements and a Wild Wild West like twist. Another great show that Fox did not give a chance to, its last episodes were scheduled on Sunday at 7 pm to go against 60 Minutes.

Dead Like Me (Showtime) This wonderful series that starred Ellen Muth focused on the day to day life of reapers, people who collected souls for the hereafter just before they died. Well done with a great cast. I was shocked that Showtime cancelled this show, at least they got a second chance with a direct to DVD movie.

Farscape (Sci Fi Channel) This was the most popular series on the Sci Fi Channel, hell it made the Sci Fi channel a contender and it gets cancelled with a cliffhanger. At least a miniseries was made, Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars, to end the show. Currently the show leaves on in comic books.

Eleventh Hour (CBS) This show will be remembered as a great show that CBS cancelled for no good reason. I look for the DVD sales to be very good when it comes out.

Deadwood (HBO) I still do not understand how HBO could cancel this great show. Great cast with Timothy Oliphant and Ian McShane and so many others.

Until I hear that Reaper does not get a syndication deal, I will keep that show off this list. CW should have stuck with it, it too was cancelled before its time. Let's hope that it can live on in some form.

Oh well.
