Private Practice: Worst Characters Ever?

I started watching Grey's Anatomy when it first came on because I was a fan of Sandra Oh. The first few season were pretty good, it has kind of when downhill this season. Too many characters, not enough decent story lines for them all are just some of the problems with this show. About a year ago, one of the characters, Addison was spun off into a show called Private Practice and I have to say this makes the current season of Grey's Anatomy look good.

I really do not think that they have any clue what they want to do with this show. These characters are so bad, it is almost beyond description.

First Addison, did she take some dumb pills when she got to LA? Her character is so out of touch and so contradictory compared to her character on Grey's Anatomy is makes you wonder why did they bother to spin her off in the first place? She is double board certified as a neonatal surgeon but wants to treat patients? Then why the hell did you become a freaking surgeon in the first place? Her love life is all screwed up, this is a recurrent theme for this show, everyone is obsessed with sex yet have trouble getting it.

Which brings me to Violet, the most neurotic psychiatrist ever. We met her staking her old boyfriend, then she moans about having no sex, then goes on a binge where she has so much sex with two partners that she needs treatment, and oh yes, she gets pregnant and has no clue who the father is. A doctor who treats patients with mental problems but does not take appropriate precautions to prevent getting pregnant. Yeah, I want to be her patient.

Then we have her best bud, Cooper a pediatrician who wants scoping out girls on the Internet for sexual pickups, has a relationship with another doctor, but really wants Violet (why, your guess is as good as mine). Now he feels the need to move in with Violet to help her (a psychiatrist who is supposedly trained to help people with these kinds of problems) deal with her pregnancy, thus putting his own relationship at risk.

Let's now go to Sam and Naomi, who created this practice. They are divorced but still pine for each other. They continued a sexual relationship post divorce, because Young attractive doctors cannot find sexual partners. Every time they stray from each other into another relationship, they screw it up by pining for the other.

The only other characters, Dell and Peter are actually pretty normal. Dell left the practice for awhile, he wanted Naomi but some bizarre reason, but he seems to be over that. Peter had sex with both Addison and Violet, he could be the father of Violet's kid, but he seems to be over any weird entanglements with them.

Maybe Dell and Peter could be spun off into a show, where they treat cases in their own practice with no BS and make money. Yes, with all these great doctors, the practice does not appear to make any money.

I don't know what ABC or the creator of this show is thinking, but it cannot be good.
