Thoughts: 03-October-2009

I just finished watching Fringe on Hulu.com. What a wonderful viewing experience compared to the horrendous time I had trying to watch Supernatural on the CW. And while there were a few commercial breaks, the longest was 30 seconds and I remember the products unlike watching regular TV which bombards you with tons of commercials. Quality not quantity is the way to go.

Fringe (Fox) had another great episode, this show is really starting to grow on me. I love Walter Bishop and his interactions with both Peter and Astrid. What great chemistry! A

Private Practice (ABC) had its season premiere the other night and while I have hated this show in the past, this episode was pretty good. Violet was being treated after the attack by the crazy woman who stole her baby, and they had flashbacks to when the practice first opened and showed how Pete and Violet met. Cooper was feeling guilty and refusing to answer his pages. He finally does so, and its the crazy woman with Violet's baby who wants Cooper to treat her. Baby is recovered and saved, Violet is saved, and everybody is happy at the end of the show. A very horrible and stupid season finale resolved in the first episode in a fairly good manner. If this show was more like this episode, I would be much happier with it. Hopefully they will not continue in the dumb plot manner of last season. B

Dollhouse (Fox) on the other hand continued with its usual stupid plots that attempt to justify the existence of a high priced whorehouse. Echo has to take on the role of a mother with a newborn (whose real mother died in childbirth) and they figure out a way to make her body lactate so she can breast feed. What I do not get is why reviewers keep saying that this is more to this show than what has been shown, that Whedon is starting to get into the heart of the matter, and this nonsense about deep meanings of mind body dilemmas. Remember that guy on Buffy that was building sex robots and tried to use mind control to force his ex girlfriend to do a French Maid fantasy with him and his friends? This is how deep Craphouse gets, what was a terrible and horrible thing to do to another person is somehow okay in this show? Give me a break already, nobody is buying this, the ratings are as low as they have ever been. Time to put this show off the air, let Whedon keep his crappy fantasies to himself. D

Oh well.
